Asset Value Recovery (AVR) – The process of refurbishing or reselling used IT equipment to recover some of its original value.

Chain of Custody – A documented process that tracks IT assets from collection to final disposition, ensuring security and compliance.
Certified Data Destruction – The process of securely erasing or destroying data from devices, following industry standards such as NIST 800-88 or DoD 5220.22-M.
Cosmetic Grading Standards – A rating system used to describe the physical condition of refurbished devices (e.g., Grade A = Like New, Grade B = Minor Wear).

Data Erasure – A method of permanently deleting data from a device so that it cannot be recovered.
Decommissioning – The process of safely shutting down and removing IT infrastructure, such as data centers or networking equipment.

E-Waste (Electronic Waste) – Any discarded electronic device, including computers, servers, and mobile phones, which may contain hazardous materials.

Global Logistics – The transportation, tracking, and management of IT assets across multiple locations, ensuring safe delivery and disposal.
GHG Emissions (Greenhouse Gas Emissions) – The release of gases like CO₂ from industrial processes, including the production and disposal of electronic devices.

HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) – A U.S. law that requires businesses to protect sensitive patient health information.

IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) – The secure management of outdated or surplus IT equipment, ensuring data protection and environmental compliance.
IT Lifecycle Management – The process of managing IT assets from procurement to disposal, including maintenance, upgrades, and recycling.

On-Site Hard Drive Sanitization – A process where data is permanently erased or destroyed at a client’s location to ensure security before disposal.

R2V3 (Responsible Recycling Version 3) – A certification standard for companies that responsibly recycle and refurbish electronic equipment.
Refurbishment Process – The act of repairing, upgrading, and restoring used IT equipment to extend its lifespan for resale or reuse.
Remarketing Services – The process of reselling refurbished IT equipment to recover value and reduce e-waste.
Recycling – The process of breaking down old IT equipment into raw materials (such as metal and plastic) for reuse.

Secure Data Destruction – A process that ensures sensitive information is permanently erased or destroyed from IT devices before disposal.

Unique ID (UID) – A tracking number assigned to IT assets to monitor their status throughout their lifecycle.
